Largo was purchased from a reputable breeder at 9 weeks of age, with the intent that she would be my next assistance dog. I have MS, and use a wheelchair/cane for mobility purposes....Little did I know, that this cute little bundle of joy, would one day save my life.... We were in Geneva, Switzerland, to work with a new service dog handler and his dog, when, while shopping in a nearby grocery store, Largo began jumping on me, putting her feet on me. I started to correct her, but.....As a professional dog trainer, I realized that this was an abnormal behavior for her----she doesn't jump on people....ever......So, I rewarded her, put my basket down, and made a bee-line for my hotel about 300 yds away.... I made it to the lobby, where I promptly had a grand mal seizure....Wow....Talk about scary! In a foreign country....having a serious medical crisis(first seizure that I had ever had)..... Largo was a champ, and won hearts and friends....She accompanied me to the hospital, and we survived the incident. Since that time, she has alerted me to every seizure that I have had....Don't know what I would do without her!!!
