SSD Dutch

If anyone would have told me three years ago I would be with a group walking around the Philadelphia Zoo, I would have told them they were crazy. Let me start our story at the beginning. Dutch and I have been partners for three years now this March (2010). I have several medical and emotional problems. Because of the medical problems my primary care doctor was talking about having me admitted to a personal care home or a nursing home for safety reasons. My emergency room visits, hospitalizations and visits to the doctor have decreased so much that you would not believe the few times I'm at the hospital or for visits to the doctor. Now you have to remember a regular service dog is not trained to pick up on seizures. I was sitting on the sofa talking to a friend, I went to get up off the sofa several times and Dutch kept pushing me back down, as it ended up my friend said I had a seizure and that he put his body over my body to keep me from falling of the sofa. I think he is mighty special. He has given me the chance to feel happy and the encouragement to get up each morning and keep going no matter how I feel. Due to Dutch I'm still living on my own and doing the things I like to do. My doctor has never suggested a personal care home or a nursing home since I have Dutch. He is the best medicine, companion and friend. Most important of all, he has changed my life and is and will always be the BEST DOG EVER.
