Rylee

My family and I were at a pet store in Cumberland county and we were not looking to buy any more dogs but my daughter and I spotted this little tiny yellow lab puppy. Now Ive always been a goldent retriever lover and never thought about a lab before... so we left the store and the whole way home and after we got home my daughter begged and begged to go get her. I admitted that she was really cute. So I gave in and talked my husband into it and we all piled back in the car and drove the whole way back into town and got what we now know is the best dog ever!!! We got her home and she never had any accidents in the house, she was the easiest dog I've ever trained. We definately took notice to how smart she was so we took her to the local dog training classes... she breezed through all of them... puppy kindergarten, basic training , eventually leading to her getting her canine good citizen badge. Needless to say I fell madly in love with this dog! Started to decorate my house with labs bought books on them whatever I could do to learn more about them. Well, then in 2008 i got sick and had to go on dialysis.... one of the most sad and grueling things i have ever had to go through. Not just the strain on myself but my husband having to drive me there three times a week after working all night long, sleeping in the car while i go my treatments. And watching all the pain the other patients were going through. Most all of them alot older than myself. Alot of them didnt make it alot of death and sickness. The scarriest thing ive ever had to deal with. But I knew waiting for me at home was my lab!! She could cheer me up the moment i would walk in the door. And when there were days I was extra tired she would be right there sleeping with me at my feet not leaving my side for a minute. That same year my mother had a stroke and was admitted into a nursing home. So I decided that instead of leaving my lab at home, to take her along on the visits to the nursing home. Seeing her interact with the residents and how she would make them happy made me so happy and proud. I knew how they felt to see her face. How she just makes you feel better even if you have a bad day. Well, last may 2009, I recieved a kidney and am doing wonder ful now and my mom lives with me and my husband. She goes to adult daycare three times a week and I take Rylee there every chance I get because if she can get me through everthing i went through I know she will brighten up someone elses day and she does... they all love her there.
